Terms of Use

1. What ShAIkhy is
ShAIkhy is a free, open-source Islamic research tool. It retrieves passages from the Quran, hadith collections, tafsir, and classical fiqh works, then summarizes them with inline source citations. It is NOT a mufti, NOT a sheikh, and NOT a fatwa service.
2. Not a fatwa engine
You must NOT treat ShAIkhy's answers as religious rulings on your specific situation. For halal/haram judgments on your own life — marriage, divorce, transactions, worship in unusual circumstances — consult a qualified scholar (mufti) who knows your full context.
3. Accuracy and limitations
- ShAIkhy uses AI. AI can make mistakes. Verify important claims against the cited sources before acting on them.
- The system declines to issue takfir, declare sects deviant, or answer personal istifta.
- Our source corpus is large but not complete. Absence of a topic does not mean it is absent from Islamic scholarship.
4. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to extract training data, scrape at industrial scale, or circumvent rate limits.
- Do not use the service to harass, defame, or incite violence against any individual or group.
- Do not impersonate scholars or misrepresent ShAIkhy's output as a scholar's personal opinion.
5. Open-source license
The source code is released under the MIT license. The data layer uses publicly available Islamic texts (turath.io, OpenITI, SemanticHadith) under their respective terms. See ATTRIBUTION.md for full credits.
6. No warranty
ShAIkhy is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Use at your own risk.
7. Changes
These terms may change. We'll update the date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
